Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and head of the country’s peace negotiation delegation, has issued a warning regarding impersonation attempts made in his name. In a recent post on Facebook, he revealed that unidentified individuals have been contacting international partners while falsely representing themselves as him.
Umerov explained that these individuals are making phone calls from unknown numbers, claiming to be him and reaching out to diplomats with various requests in an effort to extract information. He emphasized that these communications are not connected to his official duties.
“These messages have no relation to me or my official activities. I urge everyone to maintain information hygiene and verify communication sources. If you receive similar messages, please contact the Office of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine for clarification and verification,” Umerov stated.
This situation raises concerns about the integrity of communications during a sensitive period of negotiations for peace, highlighting the importance of vigilance in verifying sources of information.
