A court in Lviv has ordered the detention of a 33-year-old woman from the Rivne region, who is suspected of orchestrating a bombing that resulted in the death of a police officer. The Galytskyi District Court granted the request of prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, imposing a 60-day custody period without the option for bail.
The suspect was formally charged on February 22, following a series of explosions in central Lviv. The first explosion occurred near the Magnus shopping center on Danilyshyna Street, prompting a police response. A second explosion took place when additional police units arrived at the scene, leading to the death of a 23-year-old officer and injuries to 25 others.
In the aftermath, the National Police apprehended the woman believed to be responsible for the attack. As of Sunday evening, 12 individuals remain hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the incident, with two in critical condition.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the bombing was orchestrated by Russian operatives, who allegedly recruited individuals through the social media platform Telegram. Intelligence reports suggest that there are ongoing plans for further attacks.
