Ukraine’s Security Service Launches New Hotline Amid Rising Threats

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has introduced a new hotline number, 1516, aimed at enhancing public safety amid escalating threats from Russian intelligence operations. Calls to this number are free from both landlines and mobile phones across Ukraine.

According to a statement on the SBU’s Telegram channel, there has been an increase in attempts by Russian agencies to recruit Ukrainians for various illegal activities, including terrorism, sabotage, and arson. The agency urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

Individuals are encouraged to contact the hotline 1516 in the following situations:

  • If they possess information regarding the preparation of terrorist acts, sabotage, or other illegal activities;
  • If strangers are suggesting arson, transporting unknown items, or surveilling individuals or vehicles;
  • If they encounter suspicious items or individuals;
  • If they are aware of online resources being used for recruitment purposes;
  • If they have any other information regarding the activities of Russian intelligence services.

The SBU assures that all reports will be investigated, and confidentiality will be maintained.

In addition to the new hotline, the public can also reach the Security Service through:

  • The chatbot “Burn the FSB Agent”;
  • Email at [email protected];
  • The previous hotline number, 0 800 501 482, which remains operational.

The introduction of the 1516 hotline by Ukraine's Security Service aims to bolster public safety amid increased recruitment efforts by Russian intelligence. Citizens are urged to report suspicious activities to help combat potential threats.
