Ukraine Seeks U.S. Licenses to Produce Anti-Ballistic Missiles for Europe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine has the potential to manufacture anti-ballistic missiles for the entire European continent, contingent upon obtaining necessary licenses from the United States.

During a press conference, Zelensky explained that the only barrier to developing a missile capable of intercepting Russian ballistic threats lies in the lack of U.S. authorization. He emphasized the urgency of this matter, given the ongoing conflict and the advancements Ukraine has made in its defense capabilities.

Zelensky noted that he has engaged in discussions with both former and current U.S. administrations, as well as missile manufacturers and NATO leadership, regarding this critical issue. He expressed confidence in Ukraine’s engineering talent and the defense industry that has emerged during the war.

“As of now, we have not received the licenses. However, with the industry we have built during this war, along with our technologies and engineers, I am convinced that we could rapidly produce a significant number of missiles, not just for Ukraine, but for all of Europe,” Zelensky stated.

The president’s remarks underline the strategic importance of enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid ongoing tensions with Russia. The ability to produce such missiles could bolster not only Ukraine’s security but also that of its European neighbors.

As the situation evolves, the need for international cooperation in defense manufacturing becomes increasingly apparent. Zelensky’s call for U.S. support reflects a broader desire for stronger military partnerships in the face of external threats.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine could produce anti-ballistic missiles for Europe, pending U.S. licensing. He emphasized the country's engineering capabilities and the urgency of securing these licenses to enhance regional security.
