Ukraine Receives Security Support Requests Amid Iranian Drone Threats

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine has received 11 requests for security assistance from neighboring countries of Iran, European nations, and the United States in response to threats posed by Iranian Shahed drones and similar challenges. This information was shared via Telegram following a meeting of the Technological Stakeholders on March 9.

According to Zelensky, these nations are interested in leveraging the experience of Ukrainian military forces, particularly in areas such as interception methods, electronic warfare systems, and relevant training programs.

“Ukraine is prepared to respond positively to the requests of those who assist us in protecting the lives of Ukrainians and the independence of Ukraine. We have already addressed some requests with specific solutions and support,” Zelensky stated.

The President emphasized that the National Security and Defense Council, in collaboration with the General Staff and Defense Forces, will determine which additional requests Ukraine can fulfill without compromising its own defensive capabilities.

“Ukraine’s priority is clear: the Iranian regime must not gain any advantage over those defending life, and we must work together for tangible stabilization both regionally and in global markets,” he added.

Zelensky further remarked that Ukraine has long been advocating for enhanced collective defense capabilities among its partners. He noted that this initiative extends beyond protection against drones and missiles, aiming also to dismantle the production facilities of aggressive regimes that manufacture weapons used in current attacks.

“Each of these regimes has positioned itself against the world, and responses are necessary. Every production site of Shahed drones is known. The Iranian and Russian regimes support each other, and there is increasing information about Russian components in the Shahed drones targeting Iran’s neighbors. The world is undoubtedly stronger than anyone attempting to destabilize it. We hope our partners will be sufficiently resolute,” the President asserted.

Additionally, Zelensky indicated that a group from Ukraine, tasked with providing military expertise to Gulf nations in countering Iranian drone attacks, is scheduled to arrive in the Middle East next week.

In a related context, on February 28, Israel conducted an attack on Iran’s capital, Tehran. Subsequently, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces had initiated a “major military operation” against Iran to eliminate perceived threats from the Iranian regime. He accused the Iranian government of funding and training militants in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Hamas in Palestine, stating that the operation aims to dismantle Iran’s missile industry and navy, thus preventing global destabilization.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reported launching missiles and drones towards Israel and attacking U.S. military bases in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Amid the U.S. military operation against Iran, French President Emmanuel Macron called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

The European Union reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring regional security and stability in the Middle East.

President Zelensky remarked that it is justifiable to provide Iranians with a chance to rid themselves of a “terrorist regime” and ensure safety for all nations affected by attacks originating from Iran.

On March 1, the IRGC announced the commencement of “the most destructive offensive operation in the history of the Islamic Republic” against Israel and U.S. military bases. Trump urged the Iranian regime to abandon these plans and threatened a “very strong response” if they did not.

On March 2, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the next phase of the military operation against Iran would be even more devastating.

On March 3, it was reported that Iran’s Assembly of Experts had selected a new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, although this has not been officially announced in Iran.

President Trump commented that the new Iranian leader “will not last long” without Washington’s approval, a claim that Iranian officials have denied, asserting that only Iranians can determine their country’s future.

On March 6, Trump reiterated the need for a complete change in Iran’s leadership, adding that he already has several candidates in mind for a “good leader.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that Ukraine is responding to security support requests from various countries regarding Iranian drone threats. The discussions focus on leveraging Ukraine's military expertise while maintaining its own defensive capabilities.
