Ukraine Intercepts Majority of Russian Drone Attacks on March 18

In the early hours of March 18, Ukraine faced a significant drone assault from Russia, involving 147 strike drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that their defense systems successfully neutralized 128 of these drones.

The attack commenced around 6 PM on March 17, with drones launched from several locations, including Bryansk, Kursk, and Crimea. According to the Air Force, over 70 of the drones were identified as Shahed models.

By 8 AM, Ukrainian defense forces, which included aviation units, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups, had effectively intercepted or suppressed the majority of the incoming threats across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.

Despite the successful interception, the attack resulted in 15 drones reaching their targets across 12 locations, with debris reported in three areas. The Air Force urged citizens to remain vigilant, noting that several enemy drones were still present in the airspace.

“The attack continues, and there are several enemy drones in the airspace. Please adhere to safety regulations,” the Air Force stated.

Ukraine's air defense forces reported intercepting a majority of the drones launched by Russia on March 18, though some managed to hit various locations. The ongoing threat from aerial assaults underscores the need for continued vigilance among civilians.
