Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Kyiv is in the process of finalizing drafts for several new security agreements with European partners, preparing them for signing.
This update follows a report from National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov regarding Ukraine’s collaboration with partners in the Middle East and Gulf regions.
Zelensky emphasized the significance of Ukraine’s combat experience and military expertise, which is recognized by its allies.
“We are ready to promptly and effectively support those who stand by our state and independence. This includes protection against strike and other types of drones in the sky, as well as addressing security challenges at sea—Ukrainian experience in the Black Sea can be applied to other globally significant maritime routes,” Zelensky stated.
Currently, Ukraine is engaging in security discussions with several nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Syria, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain, while also receiving inquiries about cooperation with Iraq.
“Today, we discussed the potential for joint efforts with countries in the Caucasus, as well as Eastern and Southeast Asia. There are substantial requests from African nations. We are laying the groundwork for deeper security agreements in Europe and expect to achieve results this week. I have instructed the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council to finalize drafts of several new security agreements and prepare them for signing,” he added.
In March, Zelensky mentioned that 228 Ukrainian specialists were deployed in the Middle East, assisting local air defense forces in combating Iranian strike drones. He noted that Ukraine has received 11 requests for security support from neighboring countries of Iran, European nations, and the United States to counter Iranian “Shahed” drones and other similar threats.
President Zelensky announced Ukraine's progress in finalizing new security agreements with European partners, highlighting the country's military expertise. Ongoing discussions involve multiple nations in the Middle East and beyond, aiming to enhance regional security cooperation.
