UK Unveils New Military and Humanitarian Aid Package for Ukraine

As the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion approaches, the United Kingdom has announced a new aid package for Ukraine, which includes military, humanitarian, and reconstruction support.

This announcement was made via a press release on the UK government’s official website. Prime Minister Keir Starmer will lead an online meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on February 24, while Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper is set to visit Kyiv, and Defense Minister John Healey will join Ukrainian representatives in London.

“On this somber anniversary, our message to the Ukrainian people is simple: the United Kingdom stands with you, stronger than ever. That’s why we are announcing new support today and will continue to back Ukraine for as long as it takes… We will be there until a just and lasting peace is achieved—and even beyond. Glory to Ukraine,” stated Starmer.

The aid package includes:

  • £20 million for emergency energy support to protect and repair Ukraine’s energy grid and ensure additional electricity production capacity;
  • £5.7 million for humanitarian assistance to communities along the front lines;
  • £30 million to bolster the resilience of Ukrainian society and efforts to ensure justice and accountability for potential war crimes committed by Russian forces against victims and survivors;
  • Training for Ukrainian pilots in the UK to prepare them as helicopter flight instructors.

On February 12, during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the ‘Ramstein’ format, British Defense Secretary John Healey announced a £500 million allocation to enhance Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.

The UK has announced a comprehensive new aid package for Ukraine, marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion. This support includes military, humanitarian, and energy assistance, alongside training for Ukrainian pilots.
