Former Ukrainian Military Medical Commission Head Faces Charges for False Declaration

A former head of a military medical commission within Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service has been charged for allegedly providing false information in his financial declarations. The Office of the Prosecutor General announced that the individual is under investigation for discrepancies in his asset disclosures.

According to the prosecution, in December 2023, the official purchased an apartment in Kyiv valued at over 3.3 million UAH. However, his 2023 declaration reported the property’s value as only 1.5 million UAH. Additionally, he failed to disclose actual income and expenses that facilitated the property acquisition, resulting in a total of more than 2.7 million UAH in unreported information.

The investigation indicates that the official’s declared income, along with that of his family members, does not align with the cost of the purchased property, raising suspicions about the origin of the funds used for the acquisition.

This is not the first legal issue for the official. In May 2025, he was charged with systematically receiving illicit benefits by facilitating the transfer of military personnel from combat zones to rear units. Allegations suggest he offered assistance to border guards arriving for medical evaluations, enabling them to obtain medical documentation that falsely classified them as unfit for service, granted health-related leaves, or directed them for treatment without legitimate medical reasons.

In February 2026, the indictment related to this earlier case was forwarded to court, further complicating the official’s legal troubles.

A former military medical commission leader in Ukraine faces serious allegations of financial misconduct, including false declarations regarding property purchases. This case adds to his legal challenges stemming from previous charges related to corruption in military personnel evaluations.
