Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is actively pursuing diesel fuel supplies from Middle Eastern countries in exchange for assistance in countering Iranian drone attacks. During his recent diplomatic engagements, Zelensky emphasized the importance of securing fuel to support Ukraine’s defense efforts.
In his discussions, Zelensky noted that Middle Eastern nations possess advanced ballistic missile defense systems, which are not available to Ukraine. However, he pointed out that these nations face their own challenges, particularly in defending against Iranian strike drones.
“We are providing precise expertise to Middle Eastern countries to protect their civilian infrastructure and populations from drone threats,” Zelensky stated. He also mentioned ongoing discussions with the Ukrainian Cabinet and Naftogaz regarding the country’s diesel shortage.
“Ninety percent of our potential fuel deficit is diesel. Therefore, addressing this issue is a priority for us,” he added, confirming that his trip to the region is focused on securing these vital supplies.
