Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine is prepared to share its drone defense expertise with European nations. This initiative follows a previous proposal made by Kyiv to Middle Eastern countries, aiming to enhance collaborative defense efforts.
During a meeting with Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence, Helen McEntee, Zelensky discussed Ireland’s priorities as it assumes the presidency of the European Union in the latter half of this year. He emphasized the importance of establishing a mechanism within the EU for opening negotiation clusters for countries fulfilling their commitments.
Zelensky provided detailed insights into his recent visits to the Middle East, where he outlined the defense systems Ukraine has proposed to its partners. He expressed a strong willingness to engage in similar cooperative formats with European states.
“Europe must be secure in all dimensions, and Ukrainian expertise can significantly enhance that security,” he stated.
Additionally, Zelensky expressed gratitude to Ireland for its military, humanitarian, and energy support for Ukraine. He acknowledged McEntee’s participation in the Bucha Summit, which coincided with the fourth anniversary of Bucha’s liberation from Russian occupation.
Previously, Zelensky had announced unprecedented agreements with Middle Eastern countries aimed at fostering long-term collaboration to scale up Ukraine’s defense production capabilities.
However, not all European partners share the same enthusiasm for Ukraine’s advancements. The CEO of Rheinmetall recently compared Ukrainian drone developments to “playing with Lego,” effectively downplaying the engineering achievements of Ukrainian manufacturers.
