California officials are currently monitoring potential threats following an FBI warning about possible drone attacks from Iran targeting the U.S. West Coast. Despite the alert, authorities have stated there is no immediate danger to the state.
Governor Gavin Newsom emphasized that California’s leadership had been informed of these potential threats well in advance. He noted that security agencies are continually developing strategies to defend against possible drone assaults.
“We were aware of this information… It’s about being prepared for worst-case scenarios,”
Newsom remarked, adding that drone defense has always been a top priority for the state.
Intelligence reports suggest that Iran could deploy drones from vessels near U.S. shores if tensions escalate. However, the FBI has not provided specific details regarding potential targets or the timing of any possible operations.
In Washington, the White House has taken a cautious approach to the intelligence assessments. Press Secretary Carolina Levitt described the law enforcement information as a tip based on unverified data.
“There is no such threat from Iran to our homeland, and there never has been,”
Levitt stated.
President Donald Trump confirmed that the situation is under control by relevant authorities, and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
