Ukrainian President Warns of Imminent Russian Attacks on Water Supply Systems

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that Russian forces are planning operations targeting the country’s water supply systems in the coming months. This warning comes amidst ongoing discussions regarding the security situation in regions affected by recent Russian strikes.

During a recent meeting, Zelensky emphasized the need for enhanced air defense measures, particularly against drone attacks in western Ukraine. He underscored the importance of safeguarding critical infrastructure, stating, “We need to add layers of protection – this is a clear task. We know that the Russians are preparing operations against water supply systems, and every community must take this seriously and responsibly protect relevant facilities.”

The meeting included key government officials such as Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Naftogaz head Serhiy Koretsky, and Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, focusing on the coordination of defense strategies.

Previously, on March 2, Zelensky had warned about potential Russian strikes on three specific targets, highlighting a new wave of attacks aimed at critical infrastructure, logistics, and water supply systems. Reports have also circulated regarding potential attacks on the Bortnytska Aeration Station, which is the primary facility for treating wastewater in the capital.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has alerted the public to imminent threats from Russian forces targeting water supply systems. The government's focus is on enhancing air defense and protecting critical infrastructure amid ongoing military operations.
