The Ukrainian Navy has successfully executed a series of operations targeting Russian military assets in Crimea. This operation, conducted in collaboration with Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, resulted in significant damage to Russian defenses and naval capabilities.
During the coordinated strikes, three Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense systems were destroyed, along with a mobile fire group. Additionally, a Russian high-speed landing craft, designated BK-16, was successfully hit in the Novoozerny area.
Further strikes targeted military infrastructure at the Kirovske airfield, where Ukrainian forces struck a storage site for Orion reconnaissance drones, completely destroying four control stations for these unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Ukrainian Navy emphasized that these operations are part of a broader strategy aimed at systematically dismantling the logistics and combat capabilities of Russian forces deep within occupied territories.
This latest offensive follows a series of destructive strikes reported by Ukrainian military sources on March 8, highlighting ongoing military engagements in the region.
The Pantsir-S1 is a Russian short-range air defense system that combines missiles and rapid-fire guns to protect assets from aerial threats up to 20 kilometers away. It has been employed by Russian forces in Crimea to intercept Ukrainian drones and cruise missiles, although Ukrainian forces have demonstrated its vulnerabilities in previous encounters.
Each destroyed Pantsir-S1 significantly weakens the enemy’s air defense capabilities.
The BK-16 landing craft is part of a series of high-speed vessels developed for the Russian Navy, based on the CombatBoat 90 design from the Swedish company Dockstavarvet, which is a part of the Saab Group. Production of the BK-16 has been carried out at the Rybinsk Shipyard, which is part of the Kalashnikov Group.
The Ukrainian Navy, in collaboration with Special Operations Forces, has successfully targeted Russian military assets in Crimea, destroying key air defense systems and a landing craft. This operation is part of a strategic effort to weaken Russian military capabilities in the region.
