Ukrainian military forces have successfully reclaimed approximately 400 square kilometers of territory from Russian control during ongoing counteroffensive operations, according to Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces. This development comes as Russian sources falsely claim the capture of the village of Ternuvate.
Voloshin confirmed that the counteroffensive is focused on the administrative border between the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. He referenced comments from General Oleksandr Syrskyi, stating that Ukrainian troops have regained control over eight settlements.
“Eight populated areas have been definitively returned to our control,” Voloshin stated.
In addressing the misinformation surrounding Ternuvate, located near Hulyaipole, Voloshin emphasized that the village has never been under Russian control and remains secured by Ukrainian forces. He noted that Ternuvate is situated deep within Ukrainian defensive lines, approximately 10 to 15 kilometers from the front.
Voloshin also recounted an incident from two weeks ago when an enemy infiltration group attempted to enter the village to film propaganda videos. However, this group was neutralized, and Ukrainian forces are currently conducting a thorough sweep to ensure no remnants of the enemy remain.
He pointed out that such disinformation campaigns are likely timed to coincide with the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Furthermore, Voloshin reported an uptick in Russian airstrikes following improvements in weather conditions. The data indicates a significant increase in aerial attacks, including:
- 550 Shahed drones within a week;
- Nearly 1,700 FPV drones and kamikaze drones in a single day;
- 366 reconnaissance drones in one day;
- 131 Lancet and Bliskavka drones in a day;
- 71 guided bombs in a day;
- 65 unguided aerial missiles in a day;
- 14 Iskander ballistic missiles over the week;
- 10 air-launched cruise missiles in a week;
- 2 Kh-31P cruise missiles in a week.
