UFC 300 post-event facts: Max Holloway boosts records, resume with BMF title knockout

UFC 300 lived up to the hype and more on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with the milestone event seeing eight of 13 fights inside the distance.

One of those finishes came in the main event, where Alex Pereira (10-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) dropped and stopped Jamahal Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in the opening round to defend his light heavyweight title for the first time.

The co-main event saw Zhang Weili (25-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) outpoint Chinese countrywoman Yan Xiaonan (15-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) for a unanimous decision to retain strawweight gold, while the biggest highest of the night came from Max Holloway (26-7 MMA, 22-7 UFC), who claimed the BMF title with a mind-boggling last-second knockout of Justin Gaethje (25-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC).

Event stats

The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $460,000.

Gaethje and Jiri Prochazka earned $300,000 UFC 300 fight-night bonuses. Holloway earned two bonuses for $600,000.

UFC 300 drew an announced attendance of 20,067 for a live gate of $16,500,000.

Betting favorites went 10-3 on the card.

Betting favorites improved to 8-5 in UFC headliners this year.

Total fight time for the 13-bout card was 2:36:37.

Pereira has earned eight of his 10 career victories by stoppage.

Hill has suffered both of his career losses by stoppage.

Weili’s five victories in UFC bantamweight title fights are second-most in divisional history behind Joanna Jedrzejczyk (six).

Weili has earned five of her eight UFC victories by decision.

Holloway became the first fighter in UFC history to win an interim, undisputed and BMF title.

Holloway’s knockout at the 4:59 mark of Round 5 marked the latest stoppage in a UFC championship fight.

Holloway’s 22 victories in UFC competition are tied for fourth-most in company history behind Jim Miller (26), Andrei Arlovski (23) and Donald Cerrone (23).

Holloway has landed 100 or more significant strikes in 16 separate UFC fights, the most in company history. No other fighter has more than 10 such performances.

Holloway has landed 3,378 significant strikes in UFC competition, the most in company history.

Holloway has landed 3,622 total strikes in UFC competition are most in company history.

Holloway is the only fighter in UFC history to complete 29 octagon appearances without suffering a knockdown.

Gaethje has suffered all five of his career losses by stoppage.

Gaethje has been awarded 13 fight-night bonuses in 13 UFC appearances.

Gaethje’s 13 UFC fight-night bonuses since 2017 are most of any fighter in the company.
