“We need to pay attention to the technology of the army, not the age of the military”: Zelenskyi on lowering the mobilization age

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that modern weapons, drones, artillery and missiles play a key role, and saving the lives of young people remains a priority. He said this during an interview with the French publication Le Parisien, reports UNN.

“We have heard signals from some leaders that ‘let’s lower the mobilization age’. I believe that this is a dishonest conversation today. I have told this publicly and privately to the leaders,” Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that modern war is different, it is not about trenches, in a trench with a machine gun, but modern weapons – drones, artillery, long-range missiles, aviation.

“It is clear that the younger a person is, the stronger he is, but for me it is important to save the lives of people, young people. It is important to pay attention to the technology of the army, and not to the age of the military … This is not the First World War and not hand-to-hand combat – this is a war of weapons, intelligence , technologies,” said the President.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that there are no plans to lower the mobilization age in Ukraine, but the Ministry of Defense and the military command should present a new system of contracts that will have a specific motivational component, which will allow moving to the formation of the army to a greater extent thanks to contracts, rather than mobilization.
