This became possible thanks to the initiative of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA, aimed at rescuing children in danger due to the Russian occupation.
Therefore, 6-year-old Maria, who lived in a village in the occupied territory of Donetsk region with her grandmother and grandfather, remained under the care of her grandfather after the death of her grandmother. However, fearing that the occupation authorities would take his granddaughter away, the grandfather decided to evacuate the child to a safe area. Maria is currently safe with her mother and younger brother.
Another child, 14-year-old Veronika, after the loss of her parents, was taken to a foster family in the Kherson region. However, due to the enemy occupation of her native village in 2022, the girl experienced constant stress and fear, which significantly worsened her health. Unstable communication and lack of electricity also made learning difficult. Now Veronika has returned home.
