The administration of the current US President Joe Biden calls on Ukraine to review the mobilization legislation with the aim of conscripting people from the age of 18 and rapidly increasing the number of armed forces. According to the interlocutor of the agency, the administration of the Democratic Party, which is retiring in January 2025, is asking for a reduction in the age of mobilization in Ukraine. The age limit is currently 25, but the Biden administration is proposing to lower it to 18.

An American official said that the “pure mathematics” of the situation in Ukraine is that it needs additional troops to fight. According to the White House, Ukraine has enough weapons, but faces an insufficient number of troops, which needs to be increased dramatically.

The official added that, “in the opinion of Ukrainians”, it is necessary to mobilize approximately 160,000 of the military, presumably quoting the words of Oleksandr Litvinenko, Secretary of the National Security Council.
