“The Department of Defense (DoD) today announced additional security assistance to meet Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs. This announcement is the seventieth tranche of equipment the Biden administration is providing to Ukraine from the DoD stockpile beginning in August 2021. This PDA package, the estimated cost of which is $275 million, will provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to meet its most urgent needs, including ammunition for missile systems, artillery and anti-tank weapons,” the Pentagon said.
As stated, the capabilities covered in this package include:
Ammunition for artillery rocket systems (HIMARS);
155-mm and 105-mm artillery ammunition;
60-mm and 81-mm mortar shells;
Unmanned aerial vehicles;
TOW missiles;
Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank defense systems;
Small arms and ammunition;
Detonation equipment and ammunition;
Chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear protective equipment;
Spare parts, support equipment, service, training and transport.
“The United States will continue to work with approximately 50 allies and partners through the Defense Contact Group of Ukraine and related coalitions on capabilities to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs on the battlefield and defend against Russian aggression,” the Pentagon said.
