“Peacemaking” calls for mutual understanding between the peoples of Pope Francis openly play to the Kremlin’s narrative, the Center for Strategic Communications said, reports UNN.

On December 15, during his visit to Corsica, Pope Francis called on Ukrainians and Russians to “get along”, calling them “brothers, cousins”.

The Center indicated that Ukraine is grateful to the Vatican for participating in the negotiation process regarding the return of children abducted by Russia. However, the rhetoric about “fraternal nations” is “dangerous, because Russia uses it to justify its encroachments on the sovereignty of Ukraine.”

“Reconciliation” between the aggressor and the victim of an unprovoked attack is possible only on the basis of justice, as well as on the condition that criminals are punished and damages are compensated. Kyiv seeks peace, but Moscow has still not given up on its goal of seizing Ukraine, continuing attacks on the front and daily air terror against peaceful Ukrainian cities. The Kremlin’s statements about readiness for a peaceful settlement are false, because they are not confirmed by Russia’s actions
