The new sanctions work more effectively for recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism – State Department

Sanctions are more effective in achieving political goals against Russia than recognizing it as a state sponsor of terrorism. The latter restrictions are the most effective in influencing the aggressor country. This was stated at the briefing by the spokesman of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, reports UNN.

According to him, the number of already implemented US sanctions against Russia, in particular the latest packages last week and this week, have effective consequences.

Miller drew attention to the fact that after the introduction of restrictions for the energy sector of the Russian Federation, tankers with Russian oil began to stop around the world, in particular near the coast of China.

Dezhdepa’s spokesman also added that on Wednesday, January 15, Russia lost the opportunity to bypass previously introduced restrictions.

In addition, Congress received additional powers to weaken sanctions against the aggressor in the future.

Miller also added that the recognition of the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism will limit the activities of international humanitarian organizations and create other consequences that may affect the ability to work in the region.
