Ukrainian engineers turned a light civilian aircraft into a heavy, long-range kamikaze drone. This is reported by the German newspaper BILD UNN.

Details

It is noted that Ukrainian engineers managed to turn a civilian light aircraft into a deadly weapon capable of carrying a large warhead and having a flight range of more than 1,000 km.

This drone, despite its large size, turned out to be a difficult target for Russian air defenses due to its design features.

The drone is equipped with an inconspicuous engine that does not heat up to high temperatures like most missiles, which makes it difficult for Russian air defense radars to detect it. In addition, a special film provides protection from radars, and flying at low altitudes and low speeds gives additional advantages in evading enemy systems.

The kamikaze drone is particularly effective in attacks on the territory of Russia.

The most famous case was the attack on the Shahed kamikaze drone factory in Tatarstan, which is 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine.

The attack took place in April 2024 around six in the morning local time, when explosions rang out in the territory of the special economic zone “Alabuga”, located near the city of Yelabuga.

It is also reported that this type of drone was used to strike Russian targets in Grozny and other regions at a considerable distance from the border with Ukraine.

We will remind

Ukraine is working on the creation of a new Trembita missile with a range to Moscow. The basic version has a speed of 400 km/h, a range of 200 km, and production is planned after the completion of tests.
