Ivaya is said to have arrived in Ukraine for talks with officials, apparently to demonstrate Tokyo’s commitment to Kyiv in its fight against Russian military aggression, which now includes North Korean troops.

As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya will hold talks with officials in Kyiv. According to the representative of the ministry, after arriving in Ukraine by train from Poland, Ivaya will meet with his Ukrainian colleague Andrii Sybig on Saturday, and later that day negotiations with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi are possible.

This visit takes place against the backdrop of Donald Trump’s return to the White House after winning the US presidential election on November 5 this year.
