Shmyhal noted that Ukraine appreciates the positive assessment of its progress towards EU membership in the European Commission’s report and the intention to open negotiations on clusters as soon as possible in 2025.
We also discussed our further cooperation within the framework of the European Peace Fund and the Aid Fund for Ukraine. We are grateful for the projectiles donated and expect to receive a total of 1 million rounds of ammunition by the end of this year. We especially value the security agreement concluded in June with the EU and look forward to its successful implementation.
Shmyhal also emphasized that Ukraine is interested not only in the development of joint production with EU countries, but also in supporting the Ukrainian defense industry following the example of Denmark, when “our allies finance the production of weapons in Ukraine for the needs of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces.”
The Prime Minister thanked Borrell for his personal efforts and constant support of Ukraine during the full-scale war.
