State awards. Illustrative photo President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored 497 defenders of Ukraine with state awards, 435 of them posthumously. The corresponding decree is posted on the website of the head of state.
According to the document, the defenders were awarded for personal courage shown in the defense of state sovereignty, territorial integrity of Ukraine and selfless performance of military duty.
The head of state awarded the Cross of Combat Merit to Major Robert Brovdi, Chief Sergeant Mykhailo Herneshiy, Junior Lieutenant Valery Horyanskyi, Senior Lieutenant Oleksandr Zhuk and Sergeant Oleksiy Solyanik.
The defenders were also awarded the orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, “For Courage”, “For Military Service to Ukraine” and “Defender of the Fatherland” medals.
As ArmiyaInform reported, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, awarded servicemen of 38 separate marine brigades and 503 separate marine infantry battalions.
