Ukraine received its first F-16 fighter jets from its allies this summer, but much more aircraft are needed to achieve air superiority.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, on the air of the telethon.

According to him, Ukraine is currently negotiating with allies, explaining how many aviation brigades and planes we need. The authorities also tell partners about what weapons are needed to strengthen the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Last year we focused on training pilots, obtaining platforms and building infrastructure. This year, we are working on achieving an advantage in the sky,” Rustem Umyerov noted.

The head of the defense department noted that Russia currently uses up to 300 aircraft and the same number of helicopters in the war against Ukraine, which poses a serious challenge for the Ukrainian military.

Rustem Umyerov also emphasized the importance of scaling up negotiations with partners regarding the increase of aviation, informing about solutions currently being worked on.

“There are already agreements on the transfer of F-16 and Migare. Negotiations are ongoing regarding the Gripen and Eurofighter Typhoon fighters. We will be able to announce the results soon,” the Minister of Defense emphasized.

As ArmiyaInform reported, Ukraine plans to produce several million drones by 2025. First of all, so that Russia does not have the opportunity to lead in this component.
