Law enforcement officers detained the organizer of the scheme of illegal transportation of men to Moldova. A 35-year-old resident of the border area tried to attract a border guard of the Izmail detachment to his “business” by offering him a bribe of $2,000.

The State Border Service of Ukraine informs about this.

The organizer planned to use these funds to agree on assistance in illegal border crossing for himself and his 34-year-old “client”. He also provided transportation for delivery to the border.

During the implementation of operational information, both men were detained.

Regarding the organizer, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Art. 332 of the Criminal Code (“Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine”) and Art. 369 of the Criminal Code (“Offer, promise or provision of undue advantage to an official”). He faces up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions.

The 34-year-old citizen was issued administrative records under Art. 202 and Art. 204-1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for attempting to cross the border illegally.
