Nearly 70 mine action operators, more than 4,000 sappers, and more than 150 pieces of equipment are currently working on demining in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this during the Demine Ukraine forum.

Thanks to the solidarity of partners and internal resources, it was possible to return almost 35,500 vehicles to operation. square kilometers of Ukrainian land.

The potentially mined area today is about 139,000 square meters. square kilometers. This encourages a comprehensive approach in humanitarian demining, which is already being implemented in accordance with the National Mine Action Strategy.

The first direction is the survey of potentially contaminated land. Surveys are conducted to determine which territories are outside the risk zone and quickly return them to farmers for cultivation.

The second direction is the clearing of land from mines and shells in areas where contamination was found.

The third direction is attracting international donor aid. So far, about 50 partner countries have joined the humanitarian demining coalition. The total volume of contributions is more than 1 billion dollars.

The fourth direction is increasing the number of demining equipment. Ukrainian equipment and equipment of foreign companies, manufactured in Ukraine, are already working in the fields.

The fifth direction is to increase the number of certified mine countermeasures operators, in particular private ones. Over the year, the number of operators has doubled.

“Demining Ukraine is an investment in the future, a contribution to a common better tomorrow. I thank everyone who is making this contribution now, and who will make it in the future,” said the Prime Minister.

As ArmiyaInform reported, by the end of 2024, 40 M113 armored personnel carriers, over 200 anti-drone countermeasures systems, 118 off-road vehicles and 240 mine detectors were purchased and transferred to the engineering units of the Armed Forces within the Coalition.
