Adaptive clothing for wounded servicemen: what to expect

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine prepares adaptive clothing at the request of servicemen who were wounded at the front and are undergoing treatment.

This was discussed at the meeting of the Collegial body of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on issues of material support development.

It is noted that currently the technical specifications with requirements for items of adaptive clothing, which potential manufacturers must adhere to when sewing, are at the approval stage.

“At the request of servicemen who were wounded at the front and are being treated, and military medics, the Ministry of Defense is working on the introduction of adaptive clothing. The goal is to do everything possible to make our soldiers feel as comfortable as possible during treatment and rehabilitation,” said Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.

The proposed set of adaptive clothing includes several items. These are pants, shorts, a T-shirt, a sweatshirt with long and short sleeves.

As of now, two stages of testing of such clothing have been carried out, the results of which have taken into account the comments of military personnel who have already worn them.

The main characteristics of these things:

• extended trouser legs and sleeves on sweatshirts;
• textile fasteners (Velcro) that facilitate dressing the wounded and can be completely unfastened on the shoulders and sides if necessary;
• the presence of additional adjustment of the volume at the bottom of the pants and at the bottom of the sleeves of sweatshirts, as well as additional adjustments at the waist of pants and shorts with the help of a cord;
• presence of pockets on shorts and pants.

“These clothes are needed for greater convenience in the everyday life of soldiers with damaged limbs and other injuries, to provide for their household needs and to carry out medical procedures,” the MOU said.

As reported by ArmiyaInform, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine continued the program of social support for servicemen in military units. According to the changes, the list of military units participating in the program will be determined by the General Staff of the Armed Forces with the approval of the Ministry of Defense.
