Context
An important decision was made at the 19th meeting of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. It is about the emergency application of the “ad hoc monitoring” mechanism in Ukraine regarding the House of State Industry in Kharkiv.
Lubinets emphasized that Ukraine has become the first country where UNESCO applies this mechanism.
According to him, this will allow:
– fully record the damage caused to the object of cultural heritage;
– will make it possible to determine the amount of work required for restoration;
– will contribute to solving the issue of bringing the aggressor country to justice for the destruction of the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
