Under the procedural guidance of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two persons were notified of suspicion of committing a terrorist act (Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
According to the investigation, the suspects detonated explosives near the administrative building of the Berdychiv district TCC and SP on December 24 around 3:30 p.m. None of the personnel or civilians were injured
The policemen recovered from the scene a bag with an improvised explosive device, filled with elements of damage made of metal balls, and a mobile phone. In addition, the law enforcement officers found a phone from which the video broadcast was probably made and other material evidence.
The investigation revealed that the terrorist attack was committed by a repeatedly convicted native of Donetsk region and a resident of Berdycheva. Both are drug addicts. Suspects in search of dubious earnings in one of the Telegram channels agreed to a proposal to make explosives and detonate them near the Military Commissariat.
The explosive device was placed in a food container. An electric detonator with remote control was attached to it.
According to reports, the man currently lives in Kyiv. In order to commit a terrorist attack, he came from the capital to Berdychev, brought explosives to the TCC and SP and remotely detonated them.
After that, the suspect tried to run away. However, he and his accomplice were detained pursuant to Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
According to available information, accomplices organized the terrorist attack under the leadership of Russian curators.
At the moment, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, the suspect has been chosen preventive measures without alternative – detention.
