“British intelligence revealed a new tactic of Russian mass strikes against Ukraine, Russia moved to stockpile between attacks instead of frequent small strikes. During the attack on December 12-13, about 90 missiles and 180 UAVs were used.”, — write on: unn.ua
Details
As British intelligence recalled, on the night of December 12-13, Russia launched a large-scale shelling of the territory of Ukraine. As with previous attacks, they involved Russian long-range aircraft and Russian tactical aircraft that launched cruise missiles and ballistic missiles of several types from the air.
Ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation launched Kalibr missiles, and attack drones were launched from several launch sites. In total, about 90 missiles were used in combination with at least 180 UAVs.
It is likely that starting in August 2024, Russia will decide to spend time building up reserves between strikes and then strike in larger and rarer waves rather than more frequent small attacks like earlier in the year. The composition and targeting of the December 12-13 attack was similar to previous attacks: the main focus was on Ukrainian critical national infrastructure and industry, as well as attempts to suppress Ukrainian air defense and airfields by saturating them with unmanned aerial vehicles.
At the same time, as indicated in the British intelligence, Russia retains the ability and reserves that allow the use of missiles and drones in smaller quantities “as a punitive measure almost without warning.”
Addition
It is worth noting that the Russians are constantly trying to modify and modernize all the types of missiles and drones they have, which are used for attacks on Ukraine. KNDISE specialists in the comments UNN told what specific features are in question and what role western components play in changes to enemy weapons. The enemy uses not only Western components. According to Oleksandr Ruvin, director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Examinations, about 50 Chinese manufacturers supply components for UAVs, which the enemy is using to attack Ukraine.
In addition, KNDISE experts established that the Russian X-69 missiles, which the occupiers use to attack Ukraine, are made of several types of weapons and have foreign components.
