On Monday, February 17, Germany announced a new military assistance package for Ukraine. In particular, there were different types of drones, demining machines and self -propelled Zuzana 2 artillery installations.

This was reported by the press service of the German government.

Ukraine’s defense forces from Germany will receive the following:

  • 56 vehicles with mine protection (MRAP);
  • LEOPARD 1 ammunition;
  • Marder infantry ammunition;
  • 41 thousand shells for Gepard air defense system;
  • IRIS-T SLM and IRIS-T SLS air defense shells;
  • Six Zuzana 2 SAU;
  • 50 thousand artillery ammunition of 155 mm caliber;
  • 2 thousand ammunition 122 mm;
  • 300 HF-1 battle drones;
  • 51 VECTOR reconnaissance with spare parts;
  • 245 RQ-35 heidrun reconnaissance drones;
  • 29 Songbird reconnaissance drones;
  • 14 Hornet XR reconnaissance drones;
  • two machines for demining Wisent 1 with spare parts;
  • 16 mine traces;
  • 645 laser rangefinders;
  • eight border guard vehicles;
  • 74 cartridges 40 mm;
  • 100 MG5 machine guns;
  • 2 915 HK 416 assault rifles;
  • 900 assault rifles MK 556;
  • 64 HLR 338 high -precision rifles with 314 thousand rounds;
  • 160 CR 308 rifles;
  • 73 AK-47 machines;
  • More than 60 million cartridges for small arms.

On December 2, a representative of the German Defense Ministry stated that by the end of 2024, Germany would transfer a new package of military assistance to Ukraine totaling 650 million euros, which, in particular, will include Iris-T Air Defense Defense.

Germany’s military assistance to Ukraine – what is known

On September 19, Spiegel reported that Germany plans to transfer to Ukraine by the end of 2024 a package of military aid worth 1.4 billion euros, which will contain Marder armored personnel carriers, ammunition and drones.

On October 11, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a new military aid package for Ukraine for 600 million euros, including IRIS-T SLM air defense systems, Gepard tanks, howitzers and drones.

On November 19, German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius said the EU plans to use 1.4 billion euros of income from frozen Russian assets for purchase for military needs of Ukraine.

The official reported that all military materials would be delivered to Ukraine by the end of 2024. Pistorius also stated that at the beginning of 2025 Berlin organized such deliveries for Kyiv for 1.9 billion euros.

On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Soltz, who arrived in Kiev on an unannounced visit, announced the preparation of Berlin for Kiev for another military assistance package – worth 650 million euros.
