The two exchanged pleasantries, and Zuckerberg congratulated Mr. Trump on winning the presidential election. Later, the two men reportedly planned to continue their conversation at Trump’s hotel in the evening.

The Meta company characterized this moment as “an important time for the future of American innovation.” While Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy issues, Stephen Miller, spoke somewhat differently about it.

Miller said Zuckerberg “has been very clear about his desire to be an advocate and a part of the change that we see across America and the world.”
