The head of the Ukrainian state emphasized that the war is “a battle of weapons, a battle of intelligence, a battle of technologies.” Therefore, Western partners should help Ukraine by granting licenses for the production of weapons.
“How many times I said, I’ll be honest with you, from the United States, I really asked: ‘Give us licenses to manufacture the Patriot.’ And nobody seems to mind. No one ever said to me: “No, we won’t give it to you.” But we still haven’t received anything,” Zelenskyi said.
According to him, Ukraine has repeatedly explained to its partners that for a strong Ukrainian army, it is necessary to ensure that the military does not worry about the safety of their families in the rear. Soldiers must think about the front and the enemy, and in the rear, everything must be protected by modern air defense systems.
Zelensky clarified that he has repeatedly asked Western countries to help cover the sky, but Ukraine still does not have the required number of batteries for this. The partners explained this by the fact that they do not have the strength to produce so many systems, since there are many countries in the world that need them.
“And then I really asked: “Give us licenses, we will produce anti-aircraft systems and other weapons. And give us the frozen Russian assets. We will take this money and produce weapons.” As long as it is what it is,” the head of state said.
Earlier, Zelensky offered to pay for 10-12 Patriot installations with Russian assets.
It will be recalled that in November, the Netherlands handed over three launchers of the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
Norway, together with other allies, will allocate about 120 million euros to Ukraine. The funds are necessary for our state to receive another Patriot system from Romania.
