President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi will hold a meeting with the Servant of the People parliamentary faction on the evening of November 20.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the presidential adviser on communications Dmytro Lytvyn. According to sources, the meeting of the head of state with the faction may take place around 8:00 p.m.
The meeting is taking place against the background of the aggravation of the political crisis caused by a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector, which was exposed by NABU (Energoatom scandal).
The President, who returned from a foreign business trip, today announced the holding of the Staff of the Supreme Commander, as well as relevant conversations with government officials and a meeting with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and deputies of the “Servant of the People” faction. Zelenskyi said that he is preparing “several necessary legislative initiatives and principled quick solutions that our state needs.”
According to RBC-Ukraine sources, the head of state is preparing draft laws that can help to get out of the situation in the country. The decision regarding possible personnel changes currently depends on the results of today’s talks and the president’s decision, as both political and personnel issues are on the table.
Previously, People’s Deputy from “Servantand people» Nikitand Poturaev spoke on behalf of unnamed representatives of his party with a proposal to create a coalition majority in the Verkhovna Rada, which would form “government of national stability“. Who else from the “servants” supports such an idea, he did not specify.
On November 19, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to dismiss Svitlana Grynchuk, a figure in the corruption scandal, from the position of Minister of Energy. Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk immediately signed the relevant resolution in session hall .
Herman Galushchenko, who was previously removed from the duties of the Minister of Justice, was also officially dismissed from his post. 323 People’s Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada voted for his resignation.
