Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and French President Emmanuel Macron today signed a declaration of intent to purchase defense equipment by Ukraine. According to the media, the agreement provides for the supply of air defense equipment, military aircraft and missiles. In particular, as reported, the document refers to the provision of Rafale multi-purpose fighters, as well as, probably, a larger number of SAMP/T air defense systems for Ukraine.
The day before, Zelensky announced a “historic agreement” with France in an evening address. According to him, this will be a significant strengthening of combat aviation and Ukrainian defense capabilities.
This is Zelensky’s ninth visit to France since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
