Zelenskyi told what job he offered Malyuk after his resignation.

The news about the possible dismissal of the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, caused a wide response – both political figures and military personnel expressed their disapproval of the idea reshuffles in the Ukrainian special service.

However, soon the lieutenant general will switch to another field of activity. “Had a meeting with Vasyl Malyuk. I thanked him for his active work on the combat front and offered to concentrate on this type of activity. We need more Ukrainian asymmetric measures against the occupier and the Russian state, more of our significant achievements in neutralizing the enemy. Vasyl Vasyliovych possesses this skill to the best of his ability and this is what he will continue to do in the structure of the SBU,” he said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

For his part, the lieutenant general announced that he is leaving his post, but remains in the special service to “implement asymmetric special operations of the international level, which will continue to inflict maximum damage on the enemy.”

It should be noted that both the resignation of the head of the SBU and the identity of his successor, in accordance with the legislation, must be approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

In parallel with this, Zelenskyy held a conversation with Yevhen Khmara, head of the Special Operations Center “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine. It is worth noting that he is called the probable successor of Vasyl Malyuk. Currently, he will perform the duties of the head of the special service, according to a presidential decree.

“I am grateful to Eugene and all our special forces soldiers for extremely important combat activities throughout the entire period of the full-scale war. Ukraine achieves the necessary results in its defense, and all our soldiers who ensure this deserve the greatest respect and gratitude. We will expand the experience of Ukrainian special forces and CSO “A” of the SBU. We also discussed with Yevhen today other options for the systemic development of the Security Service of Ukraine and special operations that we are currently preparing,” the president said after the meeting.

Earlier, “UP”, citing its sources, reported that Vasyl Malyuk agreed to resign after a tense conversation with Zelenskyi. Prior to that, he refused to submit a statement of his own volition or to transfer to other state institutions — the Foreign Intelligence Service or the National Security Council.
