Zelenskyi: the situation in Pokrovsk is difficult, there is no encirclement today

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, said that the situation in Pokrovsk is difficult, as 170,000 Russian troops are concentrated there.

“The situation in Pokrovsk is difficult. All their forces are there… You know that 170 thousand of the enemy are concentrated in this direction. That’s a lot. And in the morning, I spoke with the head committee, there are no changes at Pokrovsky. There are Russian ones in Pokrovsk, ours are destroying them little by little…” he said during a conversation with journalists.

Zelenskyi noted that there is no encirclement of Pokrovsk today, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are controlling the situation.

“Of course, there is a tense situation with enemies from all sides there. Do you remember the situation with the Kursk operation? Do you remember how it all happened? There are a lot of different things – that we have 5 or 8 thousand, as they said, in the encirclement, which was a lie… They are not dominating there today, there are many of them, but to say that they are defeating Ukraine is not true,” he added.

The Pokrovsky direction remains one of the most active areas of the front, where intense fighting continues.

Last week, on October 26, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the penetration of Russian troops into Pokrovsk.

The Russian army has advanced within the borders of Pokrovsk – this was reported by the DeepState project in the morning of October 29. On the map of the hostilities, a “red zone” has grown in the south of the city, and a “gray” zone, indicating the presence of the enemy, has reached its northern outskirts.

Pokrovsk – a city with a population of about 7,000 people (more than 60,000 before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation) – is an important road and railway junction and was under threat of encirclement by Russian troops for most of the year.
