Answering journalists’ questions, Zelenskyy did not confirm whether the strike on the ammunition warehouse near Bryansk was carried out by an American ATACMS missile. But he said that Ukraine has these missiles, as well as missiles and drones of its own production.
“Sorry, no extra details. Ukraine has long-range capabilities. Ukraine has long-range drones of its own production. We now have a long Neptune, and not just one. And now we have ATACMS. And we will use all this,” Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.
He also added that Ukraine is working to ensure that partner countries, in particular Germany, support this long-range capability.
“I think, after the statements about nuclear weapons, I think that it is time for Germany to support the relevant decisions. And now, when there are relevant decisions not only in the media, but also from the relevant countries, it is very important to add to these decisions the number of opportunities that we can use to reduce the military potential of the Russian Federation, wherever it is,” said the President of Ukraine.
On the morning of November 19, the Ukrainian military announced an attack on the 67th arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the Bryansk region, but did not specify the type of weapon with which this attack was carried out.
In the afternoon of November 19, the Russian military department announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had hit the Bryansk region with ATACMS missiles at night, five of them were shot down by Pantsir and S-400 systems, and another missile was damaged. According to this report, rockets fell on the technical territory of a military facility in Bryansk region, a fire broke out, which was extinguished. There are no casualties or damage.
On November 17, American publications, in particular The New York Times and the Washington Post, reported that US President Joe Biden allowed Ukrainian forces to use US-provided ATACMS for strikes against the Russian Federation.
There is no official confirmation of this information from Washington yet.
The President of Ukraine, responding to such reports, noted that “such things are not announced” and “the rockets will speak for themselves.”
