President Volodymyr Zelenskyi commented on Donald Trump’s statement, in which he expressed his understanding of Putin’s feelings regarding the prospect of Ukraine joining NATO.

“Do you remember when Ukraine was told that Patriot systems can be and are only in NATO countries?… Now we need to work and do everything so that Ukraine receives security guarantees worthy of our people, which could stop Putin,” he emphasized.
According to Zelenskyi, Ukraine has the right to demand serious and strong security guarantees from the world, which constantly claims leadership, and from countries that claim world peace.
The issue of security guarantees depends not only on the US, but also on the allied position in Europe, he added.
The day before, Trump said that Joe Biden violated the “agreement” on the refusal to admit Ukraine to NATO, and that he “can understand the feelings” of Russia in this regard.
Trump has previously said that Joe Biden should not have promised Ukraine membership in the Alliance, because Russia allegedly unleashed a full-scale war because of it.
