Zelensky said this in an interview with American journalist Farid Zakaria, commenting on the delivery of aid from partners.
“First of all, everything is happening very slowly. Secondly, we need to prepare 14 brigades. We still don’t have this, and we haven’t equipped even 4 of this package of brigades,” the president said.
Zelensky noted that during the eight-month pause that preceded the positive decision of the US Congress on aid to Ukraine, all reserves were used.
“We used everything we could. We have transferred what we have in the reserves, what we have in the warehouses or in the reserve brigades that we need now. We took away all the weapons they had,” he said.
Earlier, the head of state clarified his words about 14 understaffed brigades. According to him, these are not new brigades, but those that simply did not receive the promised Western weapons. These brigades can be considered “fresher” compared to those that are already fighting and have already begun to receive certain weapons, in particular artillery.
