Zelensky next week will go to New York – a spokesman of the Foreign Ministry

Zelensky will visit the UN -General Assembly / UNIAN photoThe Ukrainian delegation, led by President Vladimir Zelensky, will visit the UN General Assembly in New York next week. This was reported by a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Georgy Tykhy during a briefing.

“We are really preparing for the UN General Assembly, for the trip of the Ukrainian Delegation of the highest level, that is, headed by the President of Ukraine,” Tykiy said.

As reported by UNIAN, earlier US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US President Donald Trump would probably meet Zelensky next week to discuss peace initiatives. According to him, Trump still hopes to be a mediator in a peace agreement between Kiev and Moscow.

He noted that Trump had made “several phone calls with Putin, several meetings with Zelensky, in particular, will probably (meet) next week in New York”, where leaders will gather at the UN General Assembly. “He (Trump) will continue trying. If peace is possible, he wants to achieve it,” the US Secretary of State said.

The 80th session of the UN General Assembly will take place on September 22-26.

“Zelensky and Putin hate each other. So it seems that I will have to sit with them in the same room, because they cannot be two, too much hatred,” he emphasized.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Trump to take a “clear position” to end the war in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. He also noted that Trump had the strength to make Putin fear him.
