The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed new sanctions against former oligarch Dmytro Firtash, his close circle and the company controlled by him.
This was announced by the head of state in Telegram.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine synchronizes its sanctions policy with Great Britain.
“We continue sanctions against the former oligarch Dmytro Firtash and, within the limits of synchronization, apply sanctions against his close circle and the company controlled by him. All entities connected to Russia and its structures deserve to be blocked,” the president wrote.
He also announced the continuation of sanctions against Taras Kozak, one of Viktor Medvedchuk’s closest associates, as well as eight companies associated with him.
According to information from Group DF, owned by Firtash, the structure controls the Motroniv mining and beneficiation plant in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the Mezhirichensky GZK and Valky-Ilmenit in Irshansk, Zhytomyr Oblast — enterprises engaged in the extraction and beneficiation of titanium-containing ores.
Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko reported that additional restrictions create legal grounds for canceling three special permits for the use of subsoil in Zhytomyr and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
According to her, in the case of the Malyshevskoye field, sanctions are also extended to Tiberius Plus LLC, which was involved in an attempt to get the special permit out of restrictions. Strategic assets are planned to be transferred to new investors through transparent auctions.
Ukrainian oligarch Dmytro Firtash has diplomatic immunity that protects him from extradition to the United States as part of the ongoing US corruption case.
On December 10, the Higher Regional Court of Vienna finally rejected the US request for the extradition of former Ukrainian oligarch Dmytro Firtash after more than ten years of litigation hearings.
