The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed decrees implementing the NSDC’s decision on the large-scale continuation and expansion of sanctions pressure.
As Zelenskyy reported, the first document concerns oligarch Dmytro Firtash, his close circle and controlled companies that have ties to the Russian Federation. The second decree extends sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk’s associate Taras Kozak and eight propaganda structures that worked for the aggressor country even before the start of the full-scale invasion.
An important stage of the new restrictions was the complete synchronization of Ukrainian sanctions with British partners. Logistics companies and persons servicing the work of the Russian tanker fleet came under attack. These structures help the Russian Federation to transport oil to circumvent the established international “price ceiling”, financing further aggression. Particular attention was paid to digital security: sanctions were introduced against entities responsible for cyber attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and the spread of Kremlin narratives.
The President’s office emphasizes that the systematic work to identify and block the assets of pro-Russian figures will continue. In particular, it is recalled that Taras Kozak was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship back in 2023 based on SBU data. The new sanctions lists take into account the experience of the EU and Great Britain, which makes it possible to create a single front of economic containment of the Russian Federation and deprive it of the opportunity to use cover persons to circumvent global restrictions.
On December 10, the Higher Regional Court of Vienna finally rejected the US request for the extradition of former Ukrainian oligarch Dmytro Firtash after more than ten years of court hearings.
It became is known which threatened Firtash in the USA.
