The president emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Latvia has been a reliable ally of Ukraine. “I am grateful to the Latvians for the annual allocation of 0.25% of GDP for the military support of Ukraine, for helping our soldiers, all Ukrainian men and women,” he said.
Zelenskyi added that Ukraine values all humanitarian projects and contributions to the restoration of Ukraine. Special thanks for supporting the Crimean Platform and holding the third parliamentary summit in Riga last year.
It is very important for us to remind the whole world that Crimea is part of our sovereign state, that Crimea is the Ukrainian peninsula, and we will continue to do so.
It is reported that the key topics of the meeting are the strengthening of support for Ukraine to strengthen its positions on the battlefield, other joint steps with partners to achieve a just peace in all of Europe and the development of security guarantees.
The parties also paid special attention to the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, in particular, the Russian shadow fleet, energy and banking sectors.
During the meeting, they also discussed Latvia’s participation in the reconstruction projects of Chernihiv Oblast and the “Food from Ukraine” initiative.
