President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work with partners to finance drones that could intercept enemy percussion drones. The head of state said this in his evening video.
– Another important topic that was on the rate today is the protection of the Ukrainian sky, namely, the beat of “Shahmed”, in particular, with the help of other drones. This is one of the most advanced technologies modern war. And I am grateful to all who introduce it, who provides this new opportunity for any army-drones to protect their country from drones. Today, I have instructed the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work with partners to finance the production of such interceptors. We will develop this direction as much as possible, and in each region there will be its responsibility for this work, – the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also told the captives who were returned to Ukraine today.
– Two hundred – ordinary and sergeants, three – officers. Defenders of Mariupol and Donetsk region, Zaporozhye, Luhansk, our Kharkiv and Sumy regions. I thank all our exchanges team. During this war, 4 thousand 757 people managed to return from captivity. And, of course, I am grateful to every soldier, every commander, all our units, which at the front provide replenishment of the exchange fund, – said the guarantor.
In addition, Zelensky congratulated the infantry of the Ukrainian military and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on his election to his post. He added that Germany is one of our key friends, one of the leaders in support of Ukraine.
- On May 6, Ukraine returned 205 soldiers from Russian captivity. These are young boys and adult men of almost all kinds and families of troops, defenders of Mariupol and the defenders of the entire front line.
- On May 5, the Czech Prime Minister Petro Fila Filage, during a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Prague, stated that the Czech Republic, together with partners from the “Decide Coalition” would train Ukrainian pilots at F-16 and L-39 fighters.
