Zelensky confirmed the intention to appoint Shmigal to the Minister of Defense

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal could become a new Minister of Defense instead of Rustem Umerov. The president told about it during his traditional evening address.

The head of the Ukrainian state reminded that today he suggested that the First Vice Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko head the government and update his work “on the basis of experience in supporting Ukrainian production, Ukrainian entrepreneurship”.

– The enormous experience of Denis Shmigal will be sure Useful in the position of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine – it is in this area that the maximum resources of the country, maximum tasks and a lot of responsibility now, – said Zelensky. – I calculate sufficient support to the People’s Deputies of the new configuration of the Government of Ukraine. And it is important that the government quickly audits all arrangements with our partners – that works and requires revision or activation.

• On July 14, Zelensky suggested the first Vice Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko to head the Government of Ukraine. He noted that the transformation of the executive system in Ukraine begins to strengthen the economic potential of Ukraine, to expand programs for supporting Ukrainians and to scale their own production of weapons.
• From March 4, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is headed by Denis Shmigal. According to the Ukrainian media, it can become the new Minister of Defense. The current Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, in turn, can become an ambassador of Ukraine to the United States.
