This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi during his speech at the meeting of the “Coalition of the Determined”.
The head of state noted that if US President Donald Trump started talking more about elections in Ukraine, they can be tried to be held.
Zelensky emphasized that in order for the elections to be possible, “the security component must be ensured.”
“If there is a need for elections now, there should be a ceasefire – at least for the period of the election process and voting,” the president stressed.
He clarified that it is America that can help the most with ensuring security. Kyiv believes that the USA should discuss this condition for holding elections with the Russian side.
Before that, Zelenskyi called the statements of a “partner in Washington” on the topic speculations Ukrainian elections . He instructed the Verkhovna Rada to give a clear answer as to whether elections are possible under the legal regime of martial law, if the “partners” guarantee the safety of their holding.
